Macau, China, January 7, 2016: The Macau Government rewarded its athletes for their medal-winning performances in 2015 at a prize presentation and gala dinner at the Fisherman’s Wharf banquet hall on Thursday evening.
The Chief Executive of the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China, Dr Fernando Chui Sai-on, was in attendance and joined a group photo with all the athletes and coaches and VIP guests, including Macau NOC President Charles Lo and government Sports Bureau chief Jose Tavares.
The government handed out 6.5 million MOP (around 800,000 USD) to 281 athletes and 83 coaches for their performances in world, continental and regional championships, with the amount for each medal depending on the level of competition.
Athletes from wushu collected the most MONEY in the individual sports, while dragon boat racers were well rewarded for their efforts in team competition.
Mr Lo, who is Chairman of the OCA Media Committee and a member of the OCA Executive Board, presented a cheque to Hoi Long, who excelled in hearing-impaired athletics and swimming events.
